Why are you having a fundraiser for a SF election in Cambridge?
The immediate impact of a Board of Education Commissioner’s decisions are local, but the work we do as policy makers and what my candidacy represents within the context of local politics has national implications. As a young African American man born without financial and political connections, I have had to work with limited resources and against outdated thinking to become a contender for public office in a city like San Francisco. This campaign is also about breaking these barriers and giving people insight into what meritocratic leadership will look in the 21st century.
I've been fortunate to build a network of thriving, socially minded professionals that stretches across the country. Throughout the years we've been able to share in each other’s accomplishments, setbacks, and ambitions. By bringing my campaign to Cambridge, I hope to continue to build on this foundation by fostering new relationships, sharing exciting ideas, and supporting leaders dedicated to improving such a dynamic and precious institution as our nation’s public schools.
This event shows that we believe in improving communities wherever there is a need. In addition, it gives us an opportunity to make new connections to further the work we seek to do in our professions.
I encourage you the join the homie from San Francisco. Support this work and let's redefine what's possible in local politics.
