Back to Africa

“If you have no confidence in self, you are twice defeated in the race of life.” - Marcus Garvey

On Saturday at approximately 2:30pm, I purchased a round trip ticket to Kenya. I’ll be staying in Nairobi. I’ve been to hella countries, but this will be my first trip to Africa. For several years, I made it a goal to take this trip back home. And every year work obligations, budget constraints or some other issue pushed the trip back.

Not this time.

In May, I will be leaving for 30 days. I have my ticket and I was hoping you would help me plan the rest of my trip. I need to know where to stay, what to see and with whom I can sit down with to break bread and learn from. If you have any ideas, please share them.

The Future of Cook on Monday Morning:

I started sharing these stories with no agenda in mind, but the response has been really moving. Thank you for bearing with me throughout this experiment. Thank you for putting up with the typos. I finally got help. These messages are now edited by Emily Davis - she’s a dope consultant with expertise in copy editing, grant writing and communications strategy. Special shout out to Commissioner Gabriela Lopez for offering to edit these messages. The kind, supportive and patient teacher in her has not been altered by the cold world of politics. She’s a gift to the people of San Francisco.

My plan is to evolve Cook on Monday Morning from my story to our story. If you enjoy reading these messages and you’re open to sharing a story from your life with me let me know by simply replying to this message. We’ll find a time to talk more about it.
